Congratulations
Damian & Rachel's Wedding

The original
decommissioned Anglican Church relocated to the Caboolture Historical Village
hosted the ceremony conducted by Father Wrex. Damian's daughters, Monica and
Belinda wore alizarin(dark reddish purple) formal dresses and were escorted by
his brothers Justin and Greg. Rachel made button bouquets that matched the
bridesmaids dresses. She walked down the aisle to the heavenly sound of a harp
played by Kathy(Damian's sister-in-law). Damian, complete with a top hat waited
for his bride-to-be with an excited expectant smile that couldn't be matched.
Rachel was beautiful and elegant in her white lace dress with train.
During the ceremony
they sat together facing the people. To begin they each lit a candle to represent
their families and finished by taking those flames to light their wedding
candle. Bible readings from Song of Songs, Romans & Matthew. Damian and
Rachel each held a chalice and guests were invited to Communion by going to the
appropriate person to partake. It was a very intimate wedding which was a joy
to share with them.
The reception was on
the veranda of the hotel at the village where a spit roast was served. Mark
Jones was the M.C. The 2 tier wedding cake was a mudcake; 1 layer gluten-free
for Damian. Formalities over it was time to let their hair down and dance. Everyone had a wow of a time celebrating
this wedding.

The Old Hornibrook Bridge
About 20 brave souls turned out to
walk the old Hornibrook Bridge on the 5th of June. The bridge was
built in the 1930’s and is in a bad state of repair. It will be pulled down
after the new Ted Smout Memorial Bridge opens on the 11th of July.
It was a very pleasant walk with fine weather and a light breeze. The fearless
Meg and Helen rode their bikes across. There were 4 new faces, which was great
to see. We were rewarded with an ice-cream at Baskin Robins at the northern end
of the bridge and a superb sunset on the return trip. We then enjoyed a BBQ at
Decker Park. The Astronomical Society were set up with large powerful
telescopes and allowed us to view the stars including Saturn and her rings- a
truly impressive part of god’s creation! Many thanks to Helen for organizing
this memorable event.
